Gianluca Pellino
Gianluca Pellino is an MD, PhD in Translational Medicine, Associate Professor of Surgery (MED/18 06/C1) at the Department of Advanced Medical and Surgical Sciences of the Università degli Studi della Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”. Prof Pellino has long lasting experience in collaborative research and cooperation. He has participated in and lead several initiatives to facilitate the active engagement of Young Surgeons, Trainees/Registrars in Surgery, and Medical Student (supervised by Professors or Staff Surgeons) with Surgical Research with International, Multicentre, Prospective Studies. He is the co-founder of ItSurg (Italian Surgical Research Group) http://itsurg.org/, has served as co-chair of the International Research Group EuroSurg http://eurosurg.org/, and as Steering Committee Member of GlobalSurg Randomized Controlled Trial 2017. Prof Pellino has been part of the Operation Committee and Dissemination Committee of several CovidSurg Collaborative Studies. Since 2018 he is part of the Study Committee of the European Society of Coloproctology ESCP Snapshot Study on the Management of Acute Severe Colitis (MASC Study). He has served/serves as Steering Committee Member of the MANCTRA Study and of the Associazione Chirurghi Italiani in Europa (ACIE), National Coordinator (Italy) per International Study RETention of urine After INguinal hernia Elective Repair, RETAINER Study RETAINER I (2021), European Coordinator with REDGerm team and ItSurg for the POSTVenTT Study and provided Support to Italian Coordinators with ItSurg for the FRAGILE Study of REDGerm. Prof Pellino joins the committees of several national and international societies, currently serving as chair of the Young European Society of Coloproctology (Y-ESCP), member of the Young European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation (Y-ECCO) Committee, member of the ESCP Guidelines Committee, member of the ESCP Social Media and Cohort Studies working groups, member of the Commission for Continued Education and Surgical Training of the Italian Society of Surgery (SIC), member of the Surgery Commission of the Association of Italian Young Gastroenterologists and Endoscopists (Associazione Giovani Gastroenterologi ed Endoscopisti Italiani, AGGEI), member of the Research and Audit Committee and of the Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Section of the Italian Society of Colorectal Surgery (SICCR). As Y-ESCP chair, he joins the ESCP Executive.
